Once upon a time…

on this day many, many breakfasts ago,
when cheese was affordable and drinking water still came out of a tap,
a young lad and a young lass
said some nice things to each other,
smiled lots,
kissed,
and
made some reciprocal promises
to each other…
before God,

and
before a whole bunch of people
who loved them.

On this memorable day oh so long ago
a young lad and a young lass
were blessed
by people who shared in their happiness….
as they began their journey
together.

Now on this memorable day many moons later
this almost-young lad and nearly-young lass

reflect
on that little spark,
that began it all…

And today ,
