A new day has begun

As I write this blog, the rain is THUNDERING down outside, making it impossible to chat with anyone over a metre away. It has been the sort of day that even the ducks are disgusted at! A perfect ‘stay at home’ day. The boys and I lazed in front of our lovely warm fire, filling the home with music and baking smells all day long. We even set up a tent in the lounge so that L could experience the wilds of reading - tucked up in a sleeping bag, and braving the heady aromas and restless natives around about him. He only ventured out when there was the lure of freshly baked shortbread….or when tempted by a game of marbles!

And now, the relentless deluge of water has caused our lovely old home to spring leaks all over…..caused by overflowing gutters and pipes. Towels, buckets, puddles…..pity we took the tent down!

That was written last night….unfortunately, the rain also caused havoc with our internet connection. SO….this is now The Next Morning! The rain has stopped (I don’t think the heavens could’ve contained much more water!) and the day has dawned bright and clear, the sunshine making the wet ‘everythings’ sparkle! It feels like the whole land has had a good wash whilst we slept! And I’m glad for such a gorgeous start for the 1st day back at school - The boys whizzed out the door with winter uniform and backpacks flapping about them…..the morning stampede, contrasting to the laze of yesterday…. Life has begun in earnest again!
