I feel mollified that yesterday, Auckland had its hottest day in 130 years! So I wasn't complaining for naught!!!! It lowers your blood pressure to have a good whinge, you know. (Actually, I just made that one up but feel free to find a scientific basis if you wish!).
Anyway, it sounds like I did well not to strip to my underwear and hop into the freezer with the ice cream....

Southern Ange, I had no idea you too were S'porean. Do you venture to that part of the world often? And yes, I do understand some of the Chinese dialects which makes for good fun listening to people talk behind my back. This skill came in especially handy when I would substitute teach in schools in Richmond with lots of Chinese kids.

No we haven’t managed to get back to S’pore as often as we’d like….the last time was when my bro got married a few years ago now. Still got lots of relatives there so we are hoping to go back again very soon, so that the boys can get to know some more of their heritage. What dialects can you understand? I’d like my boys to learn Mandarin properly, but there hasn’t been much opportunity to date. In fact, E started German today at school! Oh well. It’s all good. By the way, loved your post about the nouns, adjectives and poetry! Such a laugh!
